NEW 1 & 2 Family Homes Application Submittal Process
During the 2015-2016 legislative session, 2015 Act 211 was signed into law, requiring Wisconsin municipalities to submit to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) electronic copies of their one- and two-family building permits starting on January 2, 2018. This law also charged DSPS with creating and implementing an electronic processing system for these building permits that could be utilized by municipalities.
The link below will take you to the start page for the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) Online Permitting System. Follow the instructions and complete the application online. When completed, print out a copy of the application to bring to the Chippewa County Department of Planning & Zoning along with your plans, data and other required applications (zoning, address, sanitary, etc.) to apply for your building permit. THIS IS THE LINK FOR NEW 1 AND 2 FAMILY HOMES ONLY.
In-person visits to the Department are suspended until further notice. If you have business with the Department, it should occur by telephone or email instead of meeting in person. All applications, permits or other items necessary for approval and their applicable fees will need to be mailed via United States Postal Service.
You may experience some delays in communication from the department as we will have some staff working from home and some in the office. We appreciate your patience during this time.
All other projects such as additions, alterations, decks, electrical permits, etc. will be required to submit a paper copy of the Uniform Dwelling Code Application:
