Project Description:

The Center for Independent Living for Western Wisconsin, Inc. (CILWW) is a consumer-run, community based, non-residential, private not-for-profit organization. They focus on empowering people who have disabilities in making choices that maintain or increase their independence. The Center’s mission is to advocate for and with persons with a disability to exercise their full participation in society. CILWW’s main office is located in Menomonie and has full service satellite offices in Rice Lake and Eau Claire.

The Center for Independent Living for Western Wisconsin, Inc. and North Country Independent Living have partnered to make transportation access easier for people with disabilities or frail elderly who have barriers accessing transportation. The New Freedom Transportation One Call Center was developed so anyone residing in the 18 county service area has one place to call for all of their questions, referrals, and transportation options.

The Western Region Recovery and Wellness Consortium has an agreement with New Freedom Transportation to purchase transportation services to and from the crisis stabilization home in Chippewa County. It is believed that the transportation services will foster access to the least restrictive crisis option for customers.
