Manages the production, use, and conservation of the Chippewa County Forest and associated public management units.  Plans and administers timber sales.  Manages wildlife areas and flowages.  Issues public firewood permits

 

Plans County forest road and trail network and manages public access.  Works with user groups to manage and maintain County recreational trail system, including hiking, horseback, snowmobile, ATV, cross country skiing and Old Abe Trail.  Sells state trail passes.

Camping in the Chippewa County Forest

 

Overnight camping including tents, trailers, cars and trucks, portable hunting or
fishing cabins may be permitted in the county forest without charge for a period
not to exceed two weeks time. This is not to include designated campgrounds
where full facilities are provided where a charge for camping may be made, nor
does it include any areas of the forest designated and identified on-site as "no camping areas".
Any camper or campers who violate County rules and regulations as established by the County Code of Ordinances, or of good conduct, including cutting or defacing timber, carelessness with fire, violation of game and fishing laws of the state or improper disposal of garbage and litter shall be subject to ejection from the county forest and subject to the penalties provided by county and state law.
