River Road Cross-Country Ski Trail

skiersunWelcome to the River Road Cross-Country Ski Trail. This trail is located along the Chippewa River, approximately 2.5 miles north of the City of Cornell. Two separate trails challenge intermediate and advanced skiers through rolling terrain to return along the more gentle grade of the River Road to the parking area. Beginning skiers will find the River Road itself to be a good place to practice their strides.

Skiers are welcome to ski with their well-behaved dogs on this trail system!

The blue trail is the longer of the two trails. It winds through some of the more challenging terrain with steeper downhill and uphill grades. This trail would be most appropriate for more advanced skiers. The total length is 4 kilometers, from the parking area to return at the parking area.

The yellow trail is 2.4 kilometers in length, and the skier will encounter more gentle slopes. The trail is still difficult enough to be classed as an intermediate trail with some steeper grades.

Both blue and yellow trails are numbered point to point to help skiers identify their location on the trail. If you are on the blue trail follow blue numbers 1 thru 11; on the yellow trail follow yellow numbers 1 thru 7. Both trails return along the River Road to the parking area.

Please use the trail with care. Keep an eye out for birds and animals along the trail, as well as, fellow skiers. Be courteous and yield to faster skiers. Do not extend yourself beyond your physical abilities.
