About Firearms Range

Print

The Chippewa County Public Firearms Range, located northwest of Tilden was first opened in 1986.  It was built with contributions from the Pittman Robertson Funds (derived from Federal taxes on firearms and ammunitions sales), The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the NRA Foundation and Chippewa County.

In 2006 the range underwent some extensive renovations to maintain projectiles within its boundaries.  The 100 yard range rifle range and 25 yard pistol range are now open to the public. Both ranges have newly installed bullet catchers which are on top of the new 25 foot impact berms. The shooting shelter incorporates “no blue sky” designs, which helps maintain all projectiles on the range. New to the range is the Range Safety Officer Hut where NRA Certified Range Safety Officers who donate their time will be available at various times to ensure range safety. The Educational Facility is available to reserve for firearm educational training and certifications.

Range Usage Fees Required: $5 Daily or $15 Annually.   Range fees include immediate family members under the age of 18.  All shooters using the range MUST read the range rules and standard operating procedures and sign a form indicating that they agree to abide by the rules and operating procedures BEFORE SHOOTING.
