Agencies Involved: Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Corrections’ Probation and Parole – Whitehall Office, Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office & the Whitehall Police Department.

Details of Event:

On Saturday, September 2, 2017 at approximately 4:15 P.M., the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1000 block of CTH F in the Town of Wheaton, for the report of an interrupted burglary and home invasion.

The suspect, later identified as ANTHONY MINNEKER, drove into the victim’s driveway with two other still unidentified individuals, knocking on the victim’s residence doors and outbuildings, without answer. Both victim residents were at home, with one reportedly upstairs and the other sleeping on the downstairs couch. ANTHONY MINNEKER did not receive answer from the victim residents and kicked in the back door.

ANTHONY MINNEKER was confronted by the male victim resident, inside the residence, and a physical altercation took place. The altercation ended when an unidentified accomplice to ANTHONY MINNEKER entered the victim residence and brandished a blunt-force weapon or “club,” allowing ANTHONY MINNEKER to escape outside and back to his vehicle.

Using the suspect vehicle description provided by the victims, the suspect vehicle was linked to ANTHONY MINNEKER; in working with Wisconsin Department of Corrections’ Probation and Parole - Whitehall Office, the identity of ANTHONY MINNEKER was confirmed. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, working with the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office, Whitehall Police Department, and Wisconsin Department of Corrections’ Probation and Parole – Whitehall Office, took ANTHONY MINNEKER into custody.
