The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and Chippewa County Lions would like to invite the media to welcome the newest member to our Department. NERO, a K-9 Patrol German Sheppard, arrived from the Czech Republic last week and was greeted by his handler Deputy Jason Bloom. Deputy Bloom and Nero will be attending a 12 week training class starting in September. With training complete, Nero and Deputy Bloom will be trained in Tracking, Drug detection, Apprehension, handler protection, and article searches. Nero will be the first Patrol K-9 in the county and the first ever for our department. We look forward to this addition and the added benefits that Nero and Deputy Bloom will bring to Chippewa County. This addition would not be possible without the gracious donation from the Chippewa County Lions organization. The Lions are celebrating their 100th year of philanthropic Service nationwide. Area Lions wanted to make a donation that they felt would benefit the entire area and have a positive and lasting effect. Please join us as we welcome NERO, and thank the area Lions Clubs for their continued support of our community.
