CHIPPEWA COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CONTINUES TO STEP UP PATROL’S WITH SPEED ENFORCEMENT GRANT

06-30-17:  Chippewa County LE Continue to step up Patrols with Speed Enforcement Grant

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Chippewa Falls Police, Stanley Police and Cadott Police, will be stepping up traffic enforcement during the months of June through August.

All four agencies will work together to increase patrol efforts and slow down those that choose to operate above the speed limit.  A $25,000 Federal Speed Enforcement Grant from the Bureau of Transportation Safety will cover the expense of the extra patrol efforts.

“Our goal as Law Enforcement is ZERO in Wisconsin when it comes to traffic Fatalities,” says Sheriff James Kowalczyk. “Speed is one of the primary factors contributing to traffic crashes. The higher the speed, the more severe the crash, and the more likely you will be injured. It’s really pretty easy - don’t drive above the speed limit, buckle up, be attentive and don’t drive if you are impaired.” With the increase of Traffic over the 4th of July Holiday it is critical that you leave yourself enough time to travel safely.

During the month of July Patrols will be out July 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 6th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 15th, 16th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 28th, and 30th.

For further information, please contact Lieutenant Mitch Gibson of the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, (715) 726-7826 or mgibson@co.chippewa.wi.us.
