Fugitive Captured - Patrick Buswell

Agencies Involved: Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Department of Corrections – Fugitive Apprehension Unit, United States Marshals Service and Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation

Details of Event: Patrick James Buswell, formerly of Holcombe, Wisconsin, was incarcerated in the Stillwater Prison in Bayport, Minnesota, but escaped on Friday, 06/12/2015. The Minnesota Department of Corrections – Fugitive Apprehension Unit and United States Marshals Service began the investigation into Buswell’s escape.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections – Fugitive Apprehension Unit learned that Buswell was in Wisconsin and received assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation. Subsequent investigation yielded that Buswell was staying at a cabin in the Holcombe area, with the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation contacting the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office for assistance. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Department of Corrections – Fugitive Apprehension Unit, United States Marshals Service and Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation were able to visually confirm Buswell was sleeping in a cabin and took Buswell into custody. Buswell was also in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine during his arrest.

Buswell remains in the Chippewa County Jail for the Minnesota Department of Corrections warrant and new charges of felony possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.
